In Memoriam

Church family member Judith DeLaughter passed away on December 2nd at her home in Aldersgate Retirement Village in Topeka Kansas.  Judith was a retired United Methodist Deaconess.  She will be particularly remembered for her tireless work in organizing the Carousal of Learning here in Sun City UMC.  Condolences and remembrances can be sent to her daughter, Kathy Clark, 3709 Grail Ridge, Independence MO 64055.

Anita Ulery (December 22, 2011)Anita was born August 20, 1927 in Fisher, Illinois and raised on a farm there. She met and married her first husband in Illinois and moved to West Los Angeles, California in 1951 where they welcomed four children, the first of whom predeceased her in 1958. After they divorced, she moved to Baltrustrol in Sun City in 1977. Anita met her second husband (Dr. Richard Ulery) in 1980, lived in Pacific Palisades and Malibu CA, until moving to Washington State in 1983. In 1991 they relocated to Rancho Bernardo, CA until he passed away in 2001, which prompted her move to the Pebble Beach home in Sun City where she passed away on December 22nd. Anita dearly loved to sing (and had a beautiful voice)-anything at all-and did so often. She loved God, her family, and too many things to list here. Her dogs were her constant companions (along with her son John)-we laugh about how she spent 30 years trying to find a replacement for our family dog growing up-alas not to be-nevertheless she adored the pets she had. She cherished her "friend forever" as well as the friends she shared jokes and funnies with regularly-oh how she loved to laugh! Anita was so very grateful for all of the prayers, cards, and notes she received, especially after she became unable to leave the house (particularly the last 6 months)-they truly sustained and uplifted her. She reminded us often that she would see us "over there" just an "interval away", and that "not one bird stopped singing". We are grateful she is no longer sick but will truly miss her. Thank you for being her community.

Anita is survived by her three children; Sandra, Greg and John who are listening to the birds sing until we can hear her sing again.

At Anita's request no service was planned. A moment of remembrance will be held in her honor during the January 8th worship service.
